the High LineThe High Line is a 1.45-mile-long (2.33 km) elevated linear park, greenway and rail trail created on a former New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan in New York City. it is one of typical third place in our live. 

In this work, I want to overlap and interact two third places to create a multi-dimensional third place. The house is made up of three overlapping chairs, one of which crosses the High Line to form an interaction. The main building has three floors with different purposes. The first floor is the only enclosed space, used as an auditorium or gathering place, but there is a door directly connected to the staircase of the High Line. Even though the two Spaces are not open to each other, there is still a certain connection. The second platform is the same height as the main body of the High Line, so that people in the building can communicate with people on the High Line. The third floor is a viewing platform above the High Line. The platform is made of glass, which enables people to overlook the High Line from a special perspective that they have never seen before. Three purposeful third places are formed on the third floor respectively, which are connected with the High Line to form a large compound third place. However, Chair itself is different from High Line. Compared with the noise and joy of High Line, Chair is more peaceful and quiet. I hope to make these two completely different Third Places interact and be independent, so as to explore more possibilities of the existence of Third Places
